This weeks entry for Illustration Friday is, in the words of Blue Peter, “One I made earlier”.
Its a watercolour sketch from my Moleskine of the terraced houses of my early childhood, we didn’t have “gardens” as such, we had small yards to park motorbikes and bicycles in as long as you didn’t obstruct the chute to the basement coal store, or the coalman’s weekly visit would end in tears.

Very nice!!! Really beautiful and subtle colors here.
Lovely. that’s the red brick of leeds alright.
This is beautiful and loved hearing about the coalman part
I really like that painting a lot. I hope you’re getting the due recognition for your talent that you deserve.
This is very nice artwork.
Thank you for the kind comments on what is actually a sloppy sketch but I liked the way the colours mingled when they were wet – the problem with watercolour being that it dries much duller, so when it did dry it looked as dull as the actual street, the street of my childhood.
Love the softness of this. Nice work.
Nice work. I like that the garden area is unseen but we KNOW it is in the courtyard – left up to our imagination as to its details. Just cement? Maybe a few flower pots? A patch of green? Brown dirt? I like this watercolor very much.
The earthy tones are very rich, and there is such a feeling of time past in this painting.
