Video Saturday – Booker T & the MG’s

6 12 2008

You can understand how a record company who had this group of session musicians as their “house band” just couldn’t fail to make a succession of hit records can’t you ?

Working in Stax Records studios throughout the 1960’s they recorded with the likes of Otis Reading, Sam & Dave, The Staple Singers, Eddie Floyd and Wilson Picket, but more importantly, how exciting to see an audience of young beatniks sitting politely and clapping their hands along to the groove, “its how we have fun daddy-o”

In other music news today Jerrychicken, erstwhile keyboard player with the (un-named) band fronted by his brother Ned, has been sensationally sacked from the musical act with Ned citing “musical differences” as the cause.

Ned went on to say that although Jerrychicken had never actually played his keyboard with the band he had voiced his intention to do so on several occasions and indeed kept his keyboard in storage with the rest of the bands equipment. It is understood that Jerrychicken would eventually be joining the (un-named) band just as soon as he had learned the four chords required to play “Jean Genie” off by heart rather than need little stickers on the keys.

Jerrychicken was unavailable for comment yesterday but close friends say that he is inconsolable, it is understood that one of the several guitar players in the (un-named) band will take up the keyboard in Jerrychickens place and will be using Jerrychickens instrument until he can afford one of his own.
