He would have been 67 on Thursday
As I revised to my O levels at home through a hot early summer in 1973 this song was rarely off the radio, I bought the single and it was rarely off our old monogram radiogram with the huge bass speaker that could demolish walls with its reverb – when everyone was out of the house through the daytime I’d sit at the drop-leaf dining table with my maths books and put this single on repeat play (just take the record-stacker arm off) and blast this song out through the house, “Give me hope, help me cope with this heavy load…”
Fortunately our adjoining neighbours were deaf.
Unfortunately I failed my maths O level, so maybe this song took too much precedence, though all these years later I still prefer it to maths revision.

ha! Perhaps it did! Good song! The Beatles remain my favorites!!
