A Good Day For Drying

Acrylic on box canvas 75cm x 50cm (30″ x 20″)

Hot off the easel, still on the easel actually I did this one last year on a smaller canvas but having picked up four large mounted canvases last week at a bargain price (a 4 for 1 deal) then it deserves a larger scale treatment.

A couple of days off next week for my birthday so I’ll be up on the moors above Huddersfield looking for more images to decorate the remaining three canvases.

  1. I’ve been to a moor once. Once. I think this picture captures that feeling perfectly. You so want it to be beautiful but it’s really a dreadful, eerie sort of place. (It was raining on the only day I visited a moor so it’s kind of skewed my perception.)

  2. You’ve just described Haworth Moors, famous setting of Charlotte Brontes Wuthering Heights, its not just the film makers who invent those scenes, it really is like that !

I hate solid blue skies and wall-to-wall sun, give me a plain grey sky with a storm approaching anyday, or low cloud with that awful drizzle kind of rain – my next painting is set on Saddleworth Moor and that place has a whole lot of horrible stories to tell…
