Video Saturday – Billy J Kramer

Listen to this song and we’re back in the house on Beechwood Crescent, big wooden TV set, huge radio on a massive oak sideboard that was switched on early in the morning and not switched off until the TV started at 5pm.

Billy J Kramer and The Dakotas clung hold of The Beatles tailcoat in the invasion of the Liverpool/Manchester bands in the early 1960s, they even managed to bag Brian Epstein as their manager.

Two years they lasted, three chart singles and from the look of them in this video they didn’t enjoy the experience of being told to stand on a spot and mime badly, their only saving grace being that the black and white TV sets of the time would only have shown them as a grey shadow against a startlingly white background.
